BETWEEN THE SCANS

Ninety days is a long time to guess.

You measure. We explain the scores. You leave with a plan. Then about 90 days pass before we measure again.

Most of the work happens in those 90 days, and almost none of it gets written down. You come back and we are both trying to remember it.

Watch: The three supplements that come first

Why diet, sleep, and exercise come before any supplement in a bottle, how Beacon follows your sleep and activity between visits, and how we then test supplements one at a time with real measurements. Beacon is not emergency monitoring. Captions are available in the player.

What Beacon is

Beacon is a between-visit check-in app from Equanimity AI. Your clinic sets it up after a visit. It connects to the health app on your phone, which is already where your watch sends its data, and quietly collects sleep and activity. It also asks you a few short questions a few times a week.

That gives the plan a line back to the clinic. Not a score to chase. A record of what actually happened between the scan and the re-measure.

Setup happens at your visit and takes a few minutes.

An illustration of a phone showing one short check-in question, how did you sleep last night, with five simple answers. Beside it, two small labels show the passive signals that arrive on their own: sleep from the phone, activity from the watch via the phone. It is an illustration, not a screenshot; the questions you see may be different.

Why it belongs next to a DEXA

A DEXA at the start, then the clinic explains the scores and makes a plan. About ninety days pass before the next DEXA. Beacon records sleep, activity and short check-ins across that interval. The re-measure becomes the next baseline.

A DEXA is a photograph. It tells you where visceral fat and muscle are on one day, precisely.

It cannot tell you whether you slept, whether you kept walking after week three, or whether the plan survived a bad month. Those are the things we end up asking you about at the re-measure, and they are the hardest to remember accurately.

So we pair them. The scan measures the result. Beacon records how you got there.

When you come back for the re-measure, we are not reconstructing 90 days from memory inside a 20-minute appointment. We already have the shape of it.

What it collects

A six-point compass rose. Each point is one signal Beacon records between visits: sleep, activity, pain, mood, function and stress. There is no needle and no score; the picture shows what is recorded, not a rating.
  • Sleep. Duration and consistency, passively, through your phone or wearable.
  • Activity and movement. How much you moved, and how that changed.
  • How you are doing. Short check-ins, a couple of minutes each, a few times a week.
  • Pain, if that is part of your picture. Your own entries over time, not just today's.

You do not have to log anything by hand. The passive part runs on its own.

What it does not do

We are going to be as clear about this as we are about everything else here.

  • It does not diagnose anything. It organizes signals. Every clinical read is done by a person.
  • It does not give medical advice. It will not tell you to change a medication or a dose. Your doctor does that.
  • It does not replace your physician. Tune Me works with the doctor who already knows you. Beacon does not change that, and neither do we.
  • It is not emergency monitoring. Nobody is watching a screen in real time. If something is urgent, call the clinic. If it is an emergency, call 911.

Your data

Your health information is handled under HIPAA. Equanimity AI, who make Beacon, hold a Business Associate Agreement with this clinic, which is the arrangement HIPAA requires for exactly this.

Your care team here can see your data. It is not sold and it is not shared with advertisers.

If you want to stop, tell the clinic and collection stops. Nobody will talk you out of it. Anything already recorded stays part of your record here, under the same rules as the rest of your chart.

Is it for me?

Beacon tends to make sense if:

  • You are between a baseline scan and a re-measure and want a record of what actually happened in between.
  • You are on a GLP-1, and what happens between scans, protein, resistance work, sleep, is most of the story. Beacon records whether those actually happened. The scan tells us what it did to your muscle and fat.
  • Your plan depends on something that happens daily, walking or sleep or stress, rather than something we do in the building.
  • You have been through this before and lost the thread around week six.

If none of those sound like you, it can wait. We will not put you on an app to have you on an app.

How to start

You do not sign up here. Ask at your visit, and we will set it up if it belongs in your plan.

Start with the measurement. We will tell you honestly whether monitoring belongs in your plan.
